Description

The Mastersizer 3000+ Ultra is a laser diffraction particle size analyser designed to determine the particle size distribution of powders, suspensions, emulsions, and aerosols over a measurement range of 0.01–3500 µm (10 nm–3.5 mm). The instrument applies the principles of Mie scattering and Fraunhofer diffraction to calculate particle size distributions from the angular variation in scattered laser light. The Ultra model incorporates Adaptive Diffraction (Size Sure) technology to automatically identify and remove transient scattering artefacts caused by contaminants such as dust, bubbles, or agglomerates, improving measurement accuracy and repeatability. The system is compatible with a range of automated wet and dry dispersion units, enabling analysis of diverse sample types with minimal operator intervention. Integrated Mastersizer Xplorer software provides AI-assisted method development, real-time data quality assessment, and advanced statistical analysis, while Smart Manager and OmniTrust support predictive maintenance, instrument diagnostics, data integrity, and regulatory compliance. The instrument is suitable for research and quality control applications requiring rapid, high-resolution particle size analysis across a wide range of materials.
